Crowd in a dark club lit by a single beam of light

Every listeningminute has value.

PRIMA Music turns a DJ's recorded live sets into a paid listening club. Members pay a small monthly fee, and every minute they listen is split across the tracks and artists actually playing in those minutes.

DJs get paid for the night, not for the music

A working DJ earns from shows. Track sales on Beatport or Bandcamp and streaming payouts are rounding errors next to a booking fee. The recorded set, the thing fans actually replay all year, currently earns the DJ nothing at all.

We are not competing with Spotify for individual tracks. We are the economy for live sets.

Even when the music does stream, the chain takes it

Say a record from that set does get streamed properly. The payout still travels through centralised distribution first. Money passes through a long chain before it reaches the person who made the record or the DJ who broke it.

A minute-based economy

Every subscription is converted into listening minutes. Eighty percent of the month goes to the artist pool and is divided by the minutes actually heard. Twenty percent covers handling the transaction and recording who listened to what.

80% Artist pool20% Platform

The minutes fader is set to what a subscriber actually listens to in a month. Industry reporting puts a paid streaming subscriber at roughly 1,250 minutes per month, with light listeners near 600 and heavy listeners past 2,500.

Creators do not monetise an audience. They monetise a fraction of it.

Patreon and OnlyFans creators almost never convert their whole following. One to three percent of a free social audience becomes paying, and those few pay ten to a hundred times what an ad impression or a stream is worth. The business is built on the small, committed slice, not the follower count.

Artists already do this offline. A DJ with 400,000 followers does not sell 400,000 tickets, they sell out a 2,000 capacity room to the people who actually care, several times a year. A listening club is that same conversion, made monthly and recurring, on the music itself.

What a well-known DJ can generate from an audience they already have

A listening club is a paid membership around one artist or collective. An established DJ does not need a new audience to make this work: they need a fraction of the audience they already reach to subscribe directly. Once inside the club, every minute those members spend with the sets, edits and unreleased records pays out from the same 80% artist pool.

Use the faders to size a club: how many people convert into paying members, and how much of their monthly listening time the artist holds. A headline DJ with a devoted following tends to sit high on both, which is exactly where minute-based payouts pull away from per-stream rates.

What a listening club generates

Baseline: 4.9 listening hours per week per premium subscriber (MusicWatch via Billboard), rounded to 1,250 min per month. Average track length 3.5 min. Payouts are minute-based, so longer club tracks change the track count but not the money.

12M reachable followers converting at 0.40% gives 48,000 paying members. Two decades of touring built a following that shows up for the sets, not only the singles, so a larger slice converts and stays.

Follower counts are approximate public figures. Reachable audience discounts cross-platform overlap instead of adding the three counts together.

Discovery split 50/50

A producer creates an unreleased record. A DJ includes it in a live performance. Listeners replay that portion thousands of times. The revenue from those minutes is shared between the producer who made it and the DJ who introduced it.

Unreleased music finally has value

Uploaded IDs earn from the first minute they appear in a set. By release day the audience and the demand already exist.

Discovery itself has value

The world's greatest DJs do not simply play music. They find it, curate it, and introduce it to millions. Today they receive almost no financial participation in the value that creates.

Three real-life shapes of the same model

The same mechanic reads differently depending on where you sit in a night. A headliner, a resident and an unsigned producer all earn from the same minutes.

A small slice of a large following

A touring DJ with a large social audience opens a club. Only a fraction of that audience needs to convert, the same fraction that already buys tickets every tour.
